A WARNING over fraudulent phone calls was issued by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) yesterday.
"The LMRA has learned that there are people impersonating its officers and calling expatriate employees demanding money to be sent to specific accounts in exchange for not taking legal action against them," the statement read.
"The LMRA hereby announces that it does not collect money from employees, regardless of their legal status.
"Any and all monetary claims are demanded via an official invoice sent to the employer's legal address, and all invoices are settled through our banks in Bahrain and not abroad.
"The LMRA strongly condemns these criminal actions, and urges anyone who receives such a call not to respond to their demands."
Those who receive such fraudulent calls or want further information should call the hotline on 17506055.
